  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Recall for 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

    • Recall Announced AUGUST 28 2008

    • Number Affected 857,735

    Summary: GM is recalling 857,735 MY 2006-2008 Buick lucerne; Cadillac dts; Hummer H2; MY 2007-2008 Cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext; Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe; GMC acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon xl, Saturn outlook; and MY 2008 Buick enclave vehicles equipped with a heated wiper washer fluid system. A short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control-circuit ground wire.

    Consequence: This may cause other electrical features to malfunction, create an odor, or cause smoke increasing the risk of a fire.

    Fix: Dealers will install a wire harness with an in-line fuse free of charge. The recall began on September 12, 2008.   • EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS Recall for 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

    • Recall Announced AUGUST 11 2008
    • NHTSA Reference #08E050000
    • Number Affected 1,921

    Summary: K2 motor is recalling 1,921 aftermarket headlamps of various models sold for use on the above listed vehicles. These headlamps are missing the amber side reflex reflector which fails to conform with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, And Associated Equipment."

    Consequence: Without the amber side reflex reflectors, the lighting visibility may be affected, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

    Fix: K2 motor will notify owners and offer a full refund. The recall began on decemeber 17, 2008. Owners may contact K2 motor at 1-909-839-2992.

  • WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB Recall for 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

    • Recall Announced DECEMBER 17 2007
    • NHTSA Reference #07E106000
    • Number Affected 130,000

    Summary: Certain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: National, Carquest P/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between January 23, 2006, and December 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. The inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an ABS light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation.

    Consequence: Wheel separation can result in a vehicle crash.

    Fix: Federal-mogul will notify customers and will replace the hub assembly free of charge. The recall began on February 7, 2008. Owners can contact federal-mogul toll-free at 877-489-6659.

  • EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL Recall for 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

    • Recall Announced AUGUST 28 2007
    • NHTSA Reference #07E066000
    • Number Affected 175

    Summary: Certain cequent 90 degree 7-way right angle adaptors sold by distributors in tow packages for aftermarket sales to tow 5th wheel rv travel trailers. Due to incorrect wiring of the harness, the trailer lights may not operate properly.

    Consequence: If the trailer lights are not working properly, a vehicle crash can occur.

    Fix: All of the defective tow packages are still at the distributor level and have not been sold to any consumers.
