  1. General Motors is facing a second legal challenge for problems related to warped and cracked wheels in the C7 Corvette.

As reported by the Detroit Free Press, the consolidated class-action lawsuit was brought by eightteen 2015-2019 C7 Corvette owners, specifically the Z06 and Grand Sport trims.

The plaintiffs are seeking millions of dollars in reimbursements for costs related to replacing wheels that are prone to deforming and cracking without impact damage because GM opted for a cast aluminum rather that a forged wheel.…

  2. The 8th generation Corvette has a front trunk, sometimes referred to as a frunk.

Despite the name change the frunk is still required to have an internal release mechanism in case your kid climbs into the frunk and gets themselves locked inside.

The Corvette does have a release mechanism but it's an electric button instead of a physical latch. And an auditor found that the button stops working once the car enters "sleep" mode which is roughly 10 minutes after the engine is shut off.…

  3. There's growing concern that GM has made a series of bad decisions about the wheels for the C7 Corvette (2015-2019).

    1) They used cast aluminum and not forged wheels. 2) They used less than the recommended amount of casted material. 3) They blame drivers when the wheels split apart after going over bumps

Now a lawsuit filed in California is accusing GM of systematically denying warranty coverage to owners with cracked wheel problems, even if the prolem happens well within the standard 3-year / 36,000 mile warranty.

  4. The electronic power steering may suddenly stop working in over 27,000 Cadillacs, Corvettes, and Camaros.

An internal GM investigation found inconsistencies with the circuit boards supplied by Bosch. You’ll still be able to steer, but turning gets a heck of a lot harder without power assistance. GM will replace the entire power steering gear assemblies in a recall expected to begin this month.

  5. Last month GM announced an airbag recall affecting 4 million vehicles.

Software errors have been found to disable the front airbags and seatbelt pretensions after "certain driving conditions." GM won't say what those conditions are, but they did say there’s been at least one death related to the bug.

GM opened an investigation into the issue in June and contacted Delphi, the supplier of the sensing and diagnostic module. The automaker gathered additional electronic data recorder records from other incidents where the same crash symptoms occurred.

After three days of road tests in September 2016, GM ordered the recall. The affected GMC vehicles include the Sierra lineup as well as the Yukon.

What Owners Say About Their Corvette

The Only Thing More Warped Than a C7 Corvette Wheel is GM's Lackluster Response

At 780 miles brought to the dealer because there was vibrating above 35 mph. dealer found that the left rear rim was bent and the right tire was defective. they refused to cover the rim under warranty and charged $300. they did cover the right tire. the car now has 2500 miles on it and i believe there are bent rims again.

The Only Thing More Warped Than a C7 Corvette Wheel is GM's Lackluster Response

This is a known problem with the Grand Sport wheels and was never divulged by GM or the dealership. I am looking for compensation from either dealership or GM ... This tire was leaking and the dealer knew it. I have contacted them but received no response. If this continues to be a problem with the other wheels, I'll be forced to spend $3000 on after market wheels. This sucks.

The Corvette's Frunk Has Been Recalled For Two Major Safety Issues

While driving the 2020 Corvette at a low speed, the front hood flew open and impaired my visibility ... They failed to engineer the appropriate safety latch features into the hood that would prevent this from happening. Hoods are required to have a secondary latch that must be physically operated to open completely.
