  1. GM may have used the wrong bolts to secure the seat belts in certain 2020 and 2021 Chevy models.

    Could the new bolts work? Maybe. But when it comes time to rely on the seat belts, it's better knowing the right parts were used to tether them to the frame.…

  2. There’s an important recall for parents who’ve installed child seats using a seat belt.

    For installation of the child seat using the seat belt, there are automatic retractor assemblies equipped with retractors that lock automatically.

    This should lock the seat belt when it is completely pulled out of the retractor. However, the defects can cause the retractor to not lock the seat belt when it is pulled out of the retractor.

  3. Low voltage is temporarily disabling the power steering in more than 1 million GM trucks and SUVs, prompting a massive recall for the 2015 model year.

    A near carbon-copy recall was made for similar vehicles back in August 2017. The major difference? It was 2014 model year.

    Is anyone staffing the shoulda seen that coming department over at GM?

  4. Back in February, General Motors recalled 200 of its 2016-17 Chevy Suburban HD vehicles because they installed convex mirrors where flat mirrors are supposed to go.

    That violates federal safety standards and doesn't reflect well on their attention to detail.

    Owners can call 800-222-1020 and use recall number 17017 to see if their SUVs were involved.

  5. Last month GM announced an airbag recall affecting 4 million vehicles.

    Software errors have been found to disable the front airbags and seatbelt pretensions after "certain driving conditions." GM won't say what those conditions are, but they did say there’s been at least one death related to the bug.

    GM opened an investigation into the issue in June and contacted Delphi, the supplier of the sensing and diagnostic module. The automaker gathered additional electronic data recorder records from other incidents where the same crash symptoms occurred.

    After three days of road tests in September 2016, GM ordered the recall. The affected GMC vehicles include the Sierra lineup as well as the Yukon.
