Fuel System issues make up roughly 4% of all Chevrolet owner complaints. The majority of the issues have been reported by Malibu owners.

The complaint we hear about most often is fuel gauge not working in the 2007 Trailblazer.

    General Motors admits their estimated gas mileage for certain 2016 SUVs was a bit too optimistic. To make up for the snafu, the automaker will pay up or offer warranty extensions to 135,000 owners.

  1. The front gas tank in some 2016-2018 General Motors HD trucks is overfilling, rupturing, and leaking fuel.

    The affected trucks all have two gas tanks. The front tank requests fuel from the backup when running low, but a defective sensor is requesting more fuel than the tank can hold. GM is recalling the trucks to stop the front tank from over-filling and rubbing against the driveshaft.…

  2. GM allegedly cut corners by installing a fuel pump that isn’t compatible with US diesel in its larger trucks.

    It’d almost be hard to believe, except we are talking about GM here. The same company that swept a deadly ignition switch problem under the rug for a decade, rather than spend $0.90 per unit to fix it.

    A class-action lawsuit says GM knew what they were doing by installing the Bosch CP4 fuel pumps.…

  3. GM is recalling 850 vehicles with improperly welded fuel pumps.

    The automaker says the joint that connects the fuel pump’s outer housing to the pump’s flange may not have been properly welded by the supplier. Over time, the weld could crack and cause a separation of the high-pressure fuel pump from the flange, allowing the pump to oscillate inside the engine compartment.

    The oscillating pump can bump into a nearby fuel line and calamity ensues.

    The recalled vehicles include the 2018 Chevy Colorado, Equinox, and Malibu, as well as the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac ATS, and GMC Acadia, Canyon, and Terrain.

  5. The Bosch fuel pump that Chevrolet used in a small number of 2018 models is moving and creating a potential fuel-leak nightmare.

    GM says the joint that connects the fuel pump’s outer housing to the pump’s flange may not have been properly welded by the supplier.

    That weld could crack and cause a separation of the high-pressure fuel pump from the flange, allowing the pump to oscillate inside the engine compartment.

    The moving pumps can damage a high-pressure fuel line which is going to create an even higher-pressure situation when you start spraying flammable gas onto hot car parts.

    Owners received somewhere between $450 to $1500, based on a few factors, for their troubles. But that wasn't enough for some.

  7. GM admits they dipped their hands into the fuel economy jar and pulled out a couple more MPGs than they should have. Well, I guess dinner is spoiled now.

    Estimates say the fuel economy ratings of the 2016 Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia are inflated by 1 or 2 MPGs. In a world full of defective ignition switches and killer airbags, it's hardly the worst news out there. However, little discrepancies like that can add up over time.

    Now GM wants to make up the difference.

    While exact amounts are unknown, owners should soon expect to receive compensation ranging from prepaid debit cards to extended warranties.
